but it has been unavoidable. We have been spending a lot of time in Ottawa interviewing for jobs, meeting old friends, and most time-consumingly, buying a house. We finally succeeded – after two other abortive attempts – and we’re moving to the mighty Capital City at the end of June. More details to come.
For those who are interested, this is the new place:
universal remote today – one of these: Logitech Harmony Universal Remote. The goal, of course, is to try to regain control over the proliferation of remotes on our coffee table, and I am pleased to report that it works very well and that programming the thing via the internet works and was a snap to complete. There are still some customizations that I want to implement, but you can cover the basics in a few minutes.

I’m very happy to have found my red toque during recent cleanup and green-bag archiving activities around the house. I wore it to the massive anti-war protests in 2002, which was also the same day Nadia and I bought our wedding bands at Birks, but lost it promptly thereafter.
I had a report yesterday from a reader that this site wasn’t rendering properly in his browser, that is to say in IE6. I am stuck with IE5.5 at work and everything’s OK, and at home in Firefox and Safari everything works well.
If you could confirm for me if everything looks OK, or let me know if text gets cut off on the left or right in your setup I would very much appreciate it. Let me know what you’re using!
