Yet more inspired blogging

January 11, 2002 by Michael Boyle

by my friend Ed in Blork Blog: “that second thing [that Brussels Sprouts taste cabbagey] is less of a problem these days, as I am gaining more and more respect for the cabbage, mostly on historical and philosophical grounds.”

Uh huh. I like Brussels Sprouts (try boiling them then lightly frying in oil and garlic). But not, I repeat NOT, for philosophical reasons.

The End of Free

January 10, 2002 by Michael Boyle

indeed. It seems that Blogger will soon cease to be a free-only web app. Some are predicting that the anouncement Evan is going to make will be a Blogger Premium service.

I’m certain that lots of people will become very discombobulated over this news, but I think it’s great news and wish Evan all the luck in the world with the new service.

The idealist in me (who really knows nothing of the back-story of the demise of the original Pyra) kinda wishes that they could have gotten this together a year or so ago so that that whole gang could have stuck it out as a team. But again, I know little to nothing of the back-story there, so it’s sort of ridiculous to suggest it.

Rep. Rick Boucher is taking on the music lobby. Interesting. Hope he makes some headway, at least in terms of educating people about the excesses of the DMCA.

Annual Vaporware Report. I betcha $20 that they held it until they found out what was going on at Macworld. It says it was published at 2am PST, which means that they had plenty of time to see the Time Magazine screwup. Number 1 would have been “Flat Panel iMac” if not for Jobs’ announcement today.
