the Metafilter thread about Jakob Nielsen’s latest Alertbox article, but like Meg Hourihan I think I’ve mis-read Nielsen a bit, or misinterpreted him. And in my particular case I think I may have looked like an ass, although I stand by what I wrote there.

happening in the crypto world. Not new algorithms or anything like that – but maybe, finally, the ball is rolling towards a much wider implementation of public key crypto. The latest is that an Irish company called Baltimore is offering its toolkit for free. This is exactly what’s needed – the first step in all of this is not technological (that one’s already been taken) but cultural. People have to get comfortable using secure communications – both conceptually and practically.

I wonder if Zero Knowledge is paying attention. I hope so.

: Pay more atttention to FEED Magazine. I’ve been reading Feedmag since it was founded in 95, but I often neglect to go by for weeks at a time, which is stupid of me. In terms of online magazines, it’s the smartest thing going. Actually, in terms of magazines in any format, it’s as good as I’ve found.
