I just sent this email

March 9, 2001 by Michael Boyle

:

Hola,

A (late) “official” announcement about the next Montreal Weblog keepers get together! This is more or less the first anniversary of the night that Ed Bilodeau, David Petite, Aaron Cope, Heather Champ and myself got together, so it’s worthy of recognition.

And we do that with beer.

So the plan is this: meet on Sunday at 2pm at News Cafe, which is on St-Laurent at (I think it’s) Guilbault – at the corner of the tiny sidestreet between Bifteck and des Pins. It’s on the West side of the street and there’s food and coffee and stuff there. At a later time it is rather likely that we’ll move elsewhere for a quiet (or not so quiet) Sunday afternoon beer.

Please pass this along to anyone else (she or he should keep a weblog or other personal website) you feel should have been included in this email. And, on the day, if you have to get in touch with me, you can sms my phone through mikel.org and I’ll call you back.

Long live Pine, long live Eudora

Long live Pine, long live Eudora: Friends Don’t E-Mail Friends HTML [again from Wired News]. Or, as Cam Barrett put it, “HTML-Email Sucks Bad, Really It Sucks Bad, So Stop Using It Already.”

Radio silence is golden

January 29, 2001 by Michael Boyle

. I was away and offline for the weekend, which was even more appreciated in this time of resume chucking and general wonder that every email I receive might be a really cool proposition. I haven’t swung into high gear on my job search yet, preferring to take some time and concentrate on some personal projects that I want to do for the joy of them. But I have received some very exciting nibbles – even though many of the emails I have sent to people were of the “less than 1% chance” variety.

In contrast, the offline-ness of the past few days has been great – and even more, no one I was with really works in the web world, or not primarily anyhow (not many can escape it in some form at work).

I just got back from

January 3, 2001 by Michael Boyle

sharing New Year’s greetings with several friends who only made their way back to Montreal in the past day or so, but in doing so I determined that step one of my five-point master plan (of web stuff) for 2001 is a lock now. I got an email today that put step two a lot closer to fruition as well.

Doh!

December 14, 2000 by Michael Boyle

I got an email with the Neiman Marcus cookie story in it today! I can’t believe it’s almost 2001 and that old saw is still kicking around.
