I’m absolutely convinced

September 16, 2000 by Michael Boyle

that publications that place their editorial material online stand a much greater chance of increasing their subscription and newsstand revenue. I don’t have a lot of firm data to support my point of view, but I have lots of experience – I’ve been involved in publishing original material online for over 6 years now. And the only conclusion I can reach is that if the media are different, alternative channels support each other, they don’t undercut one another.

In Wired News today there’s an article that looks at magazines who don’t have much of an online presence: Publishing Without a Net. It’s interesting to read alternative views to my own.

Official Site of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games

September 15, 2000 by Michael Boyle

Official Site of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games! It hardly suits a cynical bastard like me to love the Olympics, but I do. Winter, Summer, whenever. The more obscure the sport the better! Luckily in Canada the CBC has tons of live coverage, not just a bunch of overproduced vignettes. And we cover all the sports, not just ones that Canadians are in – which is a whole lot of fun to watch – cause some of the other sports are unknown here (mostly).

This is getting

a little tired, but I’ll follow up anyhow. FuckedCompany is no longer for sale on ebay – but it’s still for sale.

I’ve been wrestling

with something else all night, so I haven’t had time to do the full presentation (small though it is) of the pictures from last night. But I did take a minute to put up this really shaky mirror photo.

Busy busy busy

September 14, 2000 by Michael Boyle

. I found out this morning that I have a huge presentation to give tomorrow at a major international conglomerate who shall remain nameless. I just finished up the basic docs that set up (and support with data) my thinking on the whole issue/approach I’m presenting about – now I’m under the gun to wrangle with PPT to put something together that will seem appealing. Nonetheless, expect my photos from last night to be online later this evening.
