Why do people

April 28, 2001 by Michael Boyle

find it unseemly that a resolute atheist such as myself has a relatively detailed knowledge of (and love of) old country spirituals like Will The Circle Be Unbroken? The Carter Family were great – who needs more explanation than that?

I subscribe to

April 28, 2001 by Michael Boyle

The Economist, but I keep finding and reading interesting articles before I get my copy. And more, using their website I can easily get all the context I need – whether to learn more about the story or to judge for myself what their particular angle on a developing story has been. Kinda makes my subscription seem pointless.

Webby Award nominations

April 27, 2001 by Michael Boyle

Webby Award nominations. Others have said plenty about this, although for the record I think it’s perfectly appropriate for Fray to have been included in the community category. At the same time, I agree that it was a drastic oversight that MetaFilter wasn’t included. There are several other community sites that I would also have liked to have seen – and I find it interesting that no old guard VC sites were included. Last year’s winner (Cafe Utne) came from the old school.
