about the demise of arsDigita: Diary of a Start-Up, by Eve Anderssen. I was only vaguely aware of aD in the early days, but I wish now that I had kept closer track of them.
If you’re not sure
about the Winter Olympics, Reindeer Games by Richard Libero of NHL.com is a good primer.
Good news
and odd news from Google. First the good: the Google Search Appliance. Now you can install a Google machine on your private network. I bet it’s not intended to compete with things like Documentum, but I bet it will regardless of the fact that it’s a different thing.
Also new is that www.google.com now redirects me to www.google.ca. I trust that the results of a regular search won’t be affected in any way – at least I hope not. It is a good way to gain additional revenue streams for companies targeting different markets – now they can sell the same adwords in different countries to different companies.
I returned home
from New York this morning following a long weekend with family and friends. Of course I spent most of my time out and about, but I am a freak for the Winter Olympics, so I tried to sneak a peek as much as I could as well. It was a big shock. I knew how crappy the NBC coverage was since I get the network at home, but in other years I didn’t have to rely on it – I could just switch to the CBC to get a real view of the Games. In NYC of course I didn’t have that option, and the shortcomings I’ve noted before about NBC’s coverage were all the more annoying.
