New new thing:

October 6, 2000 by Michael Boyle

I got a cheaper plan than I had with more minutes and text/email messaging on my phone. So as of today, you can send an email to my phone. Or, you could have if I wanted to put that address on this site and thus have it hoovered by a spambot (thanks for the heads up, Aaron). Alternatively, you can use this handy form.

Aha!

October 6, 2000 by Michael Boyle

I’ve been reading and enjoying CamWorld for ages, but I’d never ventured over to his excellent Content Management Systems page, which is a great information source. As well, a guy I used to “bump into” a lot on the old Frontier mailing lists, Phil Suh, has a nice CMS news site as well, in weblog format. They both moderate the CMS list.

It’s funny but it’s

October 6, 2000 by Michael Boyle

a very Eastern European day here today. More northern that the Balkans – more like the Baltics – but still. It’s drizzling and about 5 degrees here, which was exactly like it was during the entire time I spent in Latvia in December 94. And I got into work and there’s some leftover soft cheese and pat in the fridge that everyone’s digging into for breakfast – which was also what they served us in Latvia in the morning. Add some herring and grated carrots and the masquerade would be complete.

“…where there is democracy there is no place for Slobodan Milosevic.”

October 6, 2000 by Michael Boyle

Ivanov Flies Into Belgrade, Due to Meet Milosevic. I have a feeling this is going to work out. I studied the Balkans under a former (pre-breakup) Yugoslavian senior diplomat who is now a professor at McGill. Prof. Crnobrnja was just on the radio and his assessment is that Milosevic is done. Kostunica isn’t necessarily an ideal President, but they seem to be on a positive arc now. I’ve been following events using Yahoo’s Full Coverage, which is excellent – stories, links to other news sources, a good photo library – it’s all there.
