We got back from a short trip to Ottawa over the last five days or so. I disconnected a bit during my time away, and celebrated a birthday and visited with my niece Ella, who is the cutest thing on the planet (trust me).

Danah Boyd seems to have gotten it right in her story yesterday, The new blogocracy. “Bloggers at the Democratic National Convention signify a shift in media, but not a replacement for mainstream coverage. […] What they are doing cannot be compared to journalism; it can only be described as blogging.”
Dan Gillmor has linked to
a NYTimes story and made very good comments apropos of the fact that the paper has reported that the electronic records from a 2002 election in Dade County have been lost. The election was a gubernatorial primary, and not two years later there is no record of the results other than the final tallies.
