behind Google’s all around excellence: Pigeonrank [tm].
Glenn Fleishman
wrote about what he has learned following an episode in which Google removed the links to his site, isbn.nu. No fault of Google’s, just a glitch in the system really, but it had an interesting impact upon Glenn’s business.
: Why we sell advertising, not search results. A simple statement of fact gets right to the point. Perfect. I won’t use anything else anyhow, but it’s nice to have it confirmed. Especially with all the FUD going around on this issue lately.
Glen Fleishman
has the story on the new Google Appliance: Google Goes Business Class. Having sat in interminable discussions about how to organize the shared folders in medium-to-large corporate networks, the Google thing is a godsend. They alone, from what I have seen, have the power under the hood to do away with pipedreams like trying to force everyone to place their files in a pre-baked taxonomy.
Good news
and odd news from Google. First the good: the Google Search Appliance. Now you can install a Google machine on your private network. I bet it’s not intended to compete with things like Documentum, but I bet it will regardless of the fact that it’s a different thing.
Also new is that www.google.com now redirects me to www.google.ca. I trust that the results of a regular search won’t be affected in any way – at least I hope not. It is a good way to gain additional revenue streams for companies targeting different markets – now they can sell the same adwords in different countries to different companies.
