From the new

From the new

FlickrBlog: Flickr Uploader for OS X. A convenient interface to several Flickr functions on the desktop.

In a related matter, Flickr should really be sponsored by a cellphone carrier or manufacturer or something – they have singlehandedly motivated me to get a cameraphone.

Jeffrey Veen:

Will you be my friend? Trying to tease something out of the void that the social networking sites have become. So far it seems that the folks at Flickr are the only ones who have a clue. The rest of them – Tribe, LinkedIn, Friendster, Orkut – seem to have a classic case of high-ego startup syndrome, suggesting that they actually believe they’re smarter than everyone else and can actually do it all themselves with limited if any interoperability. I hope to be proven wrong.

Interesting:

TypeKey, from Six Apart, makers of Movable Type and TypePad. I’ve been starting to think that Flickr might have something to offer in this area as well. My personal view is that they should work together and figure out how to federate this in some way. It would go a long way to calming fears that will arise from those who don’t want to rely on a single, central server from a single company.

The latest

from Ludicorp: Flickr!. The demon spawn of social software and filepile. Or something like that. Very compelling, for sure, though still in its early stages.
