A question for readers.

February 19, 2003 by Michael Boyle

A question for readers.

Prompted by the fact that Ed has added titles, I wonder what people think of the approach that I have taken here, where the titles aren’t used as titles per se, but as introductory text for the whole post. If anyone could comment on this I would appreciate it. [note the bold text at the beginning of each post is nominally a title.]

Now the switchover is complete.

Now the switchover is complete.

As of today I’ve switched over to Movable Type to manage this site. I think everything is working properly, and all old links to posts should still be valid. There are still some small changes to make, but the big work is done.

I’m getting ready for

February 13, 2003 by Michael Boyle

I’m getting ready for

a switch to an all-new backend to this site – this accounts for the lack of posts in recent days. Although I really enjoy Blogger, and will continue to use it for other sites, and despite testing and enjoying Radio Userland as well, I have decided to use Movable Type. The switch over has been extremely simple and has gone very smoothly – the only delay has been in the implementation of some features in different ways than the default install suggests, which has taken some learning to do properly. A very nice thing is that all of the current permalinks should continue to work as always.

Continuing with the YULBlog theme,

January 25, 2003 by Michael Boyle

Continuing with the YULBlog theme,

read this story at Mellow Kitty, especially her analysis down at the end. “This situation also highlights something that many yulbloggers have blogged about from time to time: just how small the Montreal anglo community can be and how everyone is typically separated by one–not seven or six or five–degrees.” As if to prove that – I was at Reservoir and waved at her that very night. I was not, to be clear, in the main part of the story in any way, however.
