Everyone loves to hate

advertisers – or at least make fun of ’em, but advertising is important, both for the sheer money that sinks down that hole and for communicating current trends (although they’re often only marginally ahead of Time, which is to say hopelessly behind). Even more interesting is the ad industry as a bellwether in its own right. And, in that vein, Ad Age has noticed people pulling back from advertising in industry rags.

As if we needed

more proof that Netsol is nasty, they’re now planning to auction unpaid domain names. They’re basically blackmailing their own clients. Of course, people should pay on time, for sure. from this move yesterday by getting out of town for the night. It was a short trip, but much needed. I awoke this morning to a hard rainfall; the noise of the drops permeated the whole house, which is a really soothing sound. Then I made some eggs, it cleared up, and I drove home. Ah, long weekends!

Tomorrow is St. Jean Baptiste day, named after the patron saint of Quebec. This means different things to different people. For some, it’s the Fte Nationale, the National Holiday, with all the attendant celebration. For others, it’s just “that long weekend in June I always forget about”. For still others it’s the Stardust picnic, hosted for the past few years by Blue Rodeo. For me – there’s a patio furniture clearance sale at Wal-Mart, and several used/antique furniture stores to visit, plus I might call up my Official Plant Consultant to help me foliate my new apartment.
