more evidence that current media ownership (in general) has very little clue about what reporting, editorial writing, and journalism in general is all about: Reporters Back Boss Fired for Attacking PM. Russell Mills, the longtime publisher of the Ottawa Citizen, has been sacked, seemingly just the latest in a string of such firings by the Aspers. People are accusing Chretien of encouraging it too, and although I know the PM is a cutthroat actor in Canadian politics, I really doubt this has anything to do with him.
John Robb
has explained Dave Winer’s absence, at least somewhat. He’s in the hospital for a week – which isn’t a good sign but I hope isn’t too bad a sign either. Put a comment in John’s site and it will become part of a giant get-well card for Dave on the web.
The Web Standards Project
. Phase II: the weblog. Looks great – have to take a closer look this weekend.
Congratulations
to The Mirror Project, which is a year old today. Yay Heather! Yay Aaron! Yay all contributors!
Cory Doctorow
blogged Howard Rheingold’s talk at Reboot earlier this week. I have been fortunate to have many electronic dealings with Howard over the years, so I’m sure this talk was as terrific in person as it reads. I have to figure out how I can get to more of these events.
