an entry at Boing Boing noting that, in an interview with News.com, Bill Gates equated Free Culture advocates with Commies. Readers took up the implicit challenge and have since taken the “Commie” theme to heart in the form of red-and-gold flags, badges, and constructivist-style posters. Priceless!

it seems that Apple is suing the publisher of a popular Mac site, Think Secret. They’re going much further than they have before, fueling speculation that they hope it will put a “chill” in those who would consider writing about upcoming Apple plans.

Just in case you haven’t been following along…

Evidence is becoming clearer that the Bush Republicans are indeed trying to phase out Social Security entirely, and sooner than later. This is the only reasonable conclusion that can be reached from reading stories about a leaked memo today: Bush Aide Argues for Social Security Cuts. The AP article quotes the memo: “the Social Security battle is one we can win.” But they leave out the fact that the battle to be won is the very existence of Social Security in the US.
