Death of the Great Advertising Idea by Randall Rothenberg. I think many in the advertising industry overstate the position of The Big Idea in the first place, but still, in a product-placement world, there don’t seem to be many ideas anymore.

from the Supreme Court of Canada: Top court rules ISPs not liable for royalties. “In a unanimous 9-0 decision, the court ruled that although ISPs provide the hardware and technology, they aren’t responsible for what people download. The court ruled that companies providing wide access to the web are ‘intermediaries’ who are not bound by federal copyright legislation.” I am going to study the text of the decision to see if they used the term “common carrier” with respect to ISPs.
Blogger Maciej Ceglowski writes about his first couple of weeks in Montreal. I have never met Maciej, but I have been in the apartment he’s subletting – I know just from his description in the post. Montreal’s a small town like that some times.
