Stop the presses!

April 20, 2000 by Michael Boyle

I haven’t seen it on any news site yet – but mafiaboy’s father has been arrested too. He was arrested for “conspiracy to commit an assault” – but it’s totally unrelated to his son’s extracurricular activities.

It goes like this: the FBI and RCMP suspect mafiaboy – they get a wiretap on his house – his dad and some other guy talk on the phone about assaulting someone – they don’t just say “I’d like to kick that guy in the ass” but talk about plans and weapons etc. – the RCMP arrests the father.

Reminds me of the old line from Hunter S Thompson: “when the going gets tough, the tough get weird. When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.” [apologies if I’ve mangled that too much.]

Prove it:

I don’t support the crap that “hackers” or “crackers” get up to – but with the questionable arrest of mafiaboy (a Montrealer, btw), I just want to ask the authorities to demonstrate how a short outage cost companies “hundreds of millions of dollars.”

I got the cam

back up and running… I used to run it 24/7 as a video stream, but then we put in a firewall and I quit. But it seems to fit on this here blog, so – back in business. I’m not 100% convinced it’s going to stay yet though.

Notice the exposed brick, by the way. A webwerks trademark, I think.
