New additions

April 29, 2000 by Michael Boyle

to the site tonight. I’ve finally put up some of the older long-ish pieces I had included at my old editthispage weblog. These are available under the new “words” link over there to the left. As well, I’ve added links to each of the old blog entries at mikel.editthispage.com, so everything can now be reached directly through here. This is good, and it was surprisingly simple to do although the solution isn’t the most elegant one in the world.

Jealousy:

Good news:

Schizophrenia gene suspected. This sort of news always modifies my generally suspicious attitude towards gene therapy and genetic research.

Parody:

April 28, 2000 by Michael Boyle

A lot of people linked to the Elian-Whassup parody yesterday. As expected, Wired News has the story today. The story is interesting though: the guy from AP admits that “[we] police our copyright as aggressively as we can, although this is the first time that I can remember us going after a parody site.”

Uh, if you’re claiming copyright infringement, it’s probably not a good idea to be quoted admitting that the infringing item is a parody, which is generally considered to fall under the scope of fair use.

Hmmm.

Jenn seems to think that someone could possibly be offended by my “X is the new orange” posts. Uh, that never occurred to me. It’s just light teasing. Comes from respect, not from aggression or anything of that nature.
