Things I learned on my summer vacation

  1. The depth of field of photographs I take with my old digital camera sucks
  2. It takes but a few days to bond with a puppy, but it takes two weeks to really develop a relationship
  3. I can live without blogging just fine. I knew that already, but taking a week off confirmed it. I don’t want to or intend to stop, though
  4. Aaron, with a beard and pilot’s glasses, bears some resemblance to the old unabomber sketch that they circulated a few years ago
  5. Jish is still Jish. This is unquestionably a good thing, and it was nice to have a quick visit with the man while he was here
  6. BBQs are great cooking devices
  7. Vacations are, in general, wonderful things.

Where’s Jish

? I found Jish

Back again.

Philadelphia was actually quite nice, although I didn’t get downtown. But I saw our office there for the first time, which is someplace called… ummm… “Manayunk”.

  • The new Megnut looks great - very subdued but with nice touches like the little line connecting the menu item to the main content area. [I’m on a mac, btw]
  • It’s good to read that Heather is slowly on the mend.
  • David seems to be a little unsure of things.
  • Jish is still away.

Jish’s weblog shmeblog

Jish’s weblog shmeblog takes up the question of what this [weblogging] is about. Being noticed? Refusing anonymity? It also goes to the whole question of the web/real divide. That divide doesn’t exist anymore for me. It did, but I’ve come out the other side. My online life - Café Utne, work, writing, whatever - is completely intermingled with my real life. The first thing that came to mind for me when I read Zeldman’s piece today was that I worked with a guy on CTHEORY for four years and we never spoke. Or maybe we did once.
