The EFF has posted

a list of CDs from Sony-BMG that have been protected by their deeply flawed DRM scheme: Are You Infected by Sony-BMG’s Rootkit? I wonder if any of the affected artists (Trey Anastasio in particular) would have any comment?

Howdy!

Not exactly Trey Anastasio, but a quote from an affected artist

“Look, what we do is write music; we make music,” said Donnie Van Zant, who like most artists had no had no idea what sort of security features, if any, his label would place on the album. “I really don’t even know what D.R.M. means, to be honest with you.”

Thanks Chris – that’s a good link.

I think the artists are going to have to take more of an interest in this, or at least their business managers and others will. They have to realize that the record companies don’t work for them.
