I’ve been trying out

the new version of Firefox that was released the other day, and I note with displeasure that the close icon is still not on the tab you want to close itself, but over on the right-hand side. Otherwise it’s fine, though I’m not likely to move from Safari, which I switched to a few months ago.

You can try the tab X option, located https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?application=firefox&category=Tabbed%20Browsing&numpg=10&id=785

Sorry for the long link, couldn’t reduce it in a href format.

No problem - I turned off html and links at some point to help discourage spammers, but I think I should turn it on again now that the problem is a bit more manageable.
