Aren’t Basenjis the breed that killed that woman in San Francisco a couple years ago?

No – no way! Those were Presa Canarios. Basenjis are too small – they’re only 17 inches tall at the shoulder, and anyhow they’re really lovable, if occasionally aloof, as a breed.
